The Date

Check the local calendar of events to make sure your date doesn’t conflict with a major area event that may monopolize local hotel rooms. If your date does conflict, be sure to make your reservations for the event site, accommodations, meals, etc. well in advance.

Wedding License

You will need to obtain a license before you can be married in Monterey County. Marriage licenses can be obtained at the County Government Administration Building in Salinas. The license is valid in any California county for 90 days. If you are already California residents, you can obtain the license in your home county and bring it with you for the ceremony. The Weather

Summer in Carmel can be foggy and cold. When it is very hot inland, there is sometimes a marine layer of fog along the coast. A summer wedding still works but a reminder to guests to bring a sweater is important. The weather is actually better and slightly warmer in September and October than summer.

Carmel is one of the most romantic places on Earth, attracting honeymooners and couples celebrating their anniversary year after year. The area calls for long leisurely strolls on the beach, curling up by cozy fireplaces, enjoying shared spa treatments, indulging with fine Monterey County wines and local cuisine, and just passing the time together in and out of doors. The Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center is your resource for advice on wedding planning. We also can advise you on places to stay for you and your guests, where to eat, what to do and answer and question you have. Ask to have the visitor center send you the Guide to Carmel for all your guests.
